Kalbarri National Park
Kalbarri is located 580 km north of Perth, in the Mid-west region of Western Australia. It's the base town of the well-known Kalbarri National Park. The major geographical features and highlights in the park and the town of Kalbarri include:
(1) Coastal cliffs --
Spectacular coastal cliffs are located on the coast near the mouth of the Murchison River and south of the town of Kalbarri.
(2) Murchison River Gorge --
The Murchison River Gorge runs for nearly 80 km on the lower reaches of Murchison River. Kalbarri National Park preserves the inland desert regions of red and white striped sandstone east of the town of Kalbarri, particularly the lower reaches of the Murchison River and its gorge
(3) Murchison River Cruise --
Sailing from Kalbarri Jetty, Murchison River Cruise runs through the rugged wilderness at the mouth of the river by Meanarra Hill.
(4) Pelican Feeding and Wildflowers --
Pelican Feeding is another tourist attraction taking place at the Town Beach daily in the morning. Kalbarri is also famous for its wildflowers, most of which bloom from late July through spring and into early summer.

Coastal Cliffs Tracks & Lookouts
Extending 13 km to the south of town, Kalbarri National Park boasts some of WA’s most spectacular coastline of limestone and sandstone cliffs over 100 m high. Secluded beaches, surf breaks and whale watching spots spread along the coast.
Natural Bridge, Castle Cove, Island Rock, Shellhouse, Grandstone, Eagle Gorge (8 km Bigurda Trail), Pot Alley, Rainbow Valley, Mushroom Rock and Red Bluffs are among the best-known features of this rugged coast.
(1) Natural Bridge and Island Rock
A 1.7 km return easy stroll boardwalk and lookouts along the cliff edge for viewing the rock formations in the cliffs at the southern edge of Kalbarri National Park.
(2) Eagle Gorge
Enjoy the panorama from the lookout or wander down into the depths of the gorge, where you’ll discover a secluded beach. Watch as eagles soar in the skies above and searching for prey.
(3) Pot Alley
The view south from the car park captures the rugged beauty of Kalbarri National Park’s remarkable coastline. Follow the rocky path to the bottom and explore a hidden beach.
(4) Mushroom Rock Walk Trail
Marvel at the varied geological formations that are ablaze with colour at sunset. Allow an hour to explore the marked trail that connects Rainbow Valley and Mushroom Rock.
(5) Red Bluff
A paved 1 km return walk takes you to the lookout at the top of 100 m cliffs. At its base lies one of Kalbarri’s most popular beaches. You can take the 1.8 km return walk to the beach. The way is steep and rocky but well worth the effort.
